There is a suspicious line running down the hallway in this video, and Hazel has apparently been responsible for it all along. Because, as we see firsthand, the Golden Retriever casually drags her entire body along the hallway wall as she walks past. This leaves a dark mark exactly where her fur meets the paint.
Posted by @lexi.dogsitting, the video shows how the mystery line is solved almost immediately. Hazel never breaks contact with the wall, either. The dog reaches the end, turns around, and hugs the wall the same way back. Whatever this particular hallway routine means to her, Hazel seems very happy with it.
Golden Retriever hugs the hallway every time she walks through the house
The video opens with the text, “Was wondering what this random line on the wall was from until I saw this…” And once Hazel gets moving, there is no question about who’s responsible. She stays pressed against the wall and walks the entire length of the hallway with her body leaning into it.
The dark line makes more sense now. It sits at exactly Hazel’s height, and after watching her make the same trip twice, it is pretty hard to blame anything else. The account owner’s caption says, “Question = answered,” which feels about right.
Hazel even turns around and repeats the walk in reverse. Then, at the end of the hallway, she drops onto her back, uses the wall for a little leverage, and pushes herself backward. It appears to be a very specific walking habit for the dog. Only dogs know what goes on in their heads!
The video has picked up more than 55,000 likes in around 12 hours, and viewers took to the comments to share their thoughts. One person said their Border Collie did the same thing. That viewer also shared that they could never bring themselves to clean the mark after their dog passed away.
Most of the comments were considerably less emotional. One person suggested the wall needed an “ombre silhouette.” Another insisted, “We see nothing. The dog is innocent.” Someone else imagined Hazel looking back as if to say, “What? Yea I did it and look I’m going to do it again.” There were also jokes about “just a little redecorating” and Hazel becoming an interior decorator.
