Seeing a dog truly give up is one of the hardest things. Bridget was a senior living on the streets of Thailand. And in this reel, we learn that she had fallen off a bridge and was stuck for days. Frantic locals reached out to @wearehappydoggo for help, but this rescue dog was so terrified she fought off rescuers. She didn’t want to be saved at first, but that was three months ago. This video shows a girl who finally learned to trust and who now feels safe. The sweetest thing is that she will spend the rest of her life in a retirement village.

The beginning of the clip is actually pretty rough. Bridget looks so sad, but she is also incredibly snappy. She even charges at the person filming, like she didn’t realize they were there to help. One worker eventually carries her in their arms, but that was just the beginning of a long road to healing. It took time to show her they were friends and for Bridget to learn to trust again
Next, we see her indoors, where she is still distrustful. She’s lying on a thin bed, but as soon as a worker touches it, she pulls it away with her teeth. This rescue dog was just so confused and terrified that it took weeks for her to realize she was safe. Snapping at everyone was her only way to feel in control after that fall.
But the team at the center just wouldn’t give up. They had to desensitize her to everything.
One viewer remembered how subtle those first tail wags were. You had to watch closely to see them, but she finally understands that people can be good.
And now look at her. She is living in this retirement village and lounging in a bamboo kennel. She even has a roommate! The snapping is completely gone. Now she just wags her tail the second she hears someone say hi. She just sits in her little tent and smiles for the camera and is the first one to ask for head scritches now. She is finally living the life she deserves. Just napping and being loved.
“Welcome to your golden years, Bridget,” the in-video caption reads. And it really is so beautiful to see. It’s a complete 180 from that defensive street dog we saw in the first frame.
