In an adorable video from Instagram user @this_girl_emma_, a dog named Emma heads straight for the balcony to check in with the neighbor. She has no intention to bark at the view, and all she wants are free scratches and pets. The video opens with the on-screen caption, “Why do you leave your dog on the balcony?” and then immediately shows why the Rottweiler seems to consider the balcony her favorite spot in the apartment.

Dog goes looking for pets from the neighbor in the balcony

In the video, the dog stands by the entrance and waits for the owner to open the balcony door, thus allowing meet her neighbor. As soon as it opens, she steps out and goes to the balcony area, standing by the divider and waiting for a familiar voice to shower her with attention. Soon enough, the neighbor’s hand appears through the gap, and Emma soaks up all the affection as if it were a scheduled appointment.

She even lifts a paw toward the gap, as if to make sure the service continues. The video’s caption states the obvious, “Emma has a secret friendship with her neighbour?”

Dog owners might see this behavior all the time. A furry friend would repeat what gets them attention and love. So, if Emma steps onto the balcony and gets affection every time, she will remember that pattern immediately.

Viewers loved the setup and Emma’s determination. One commenter joked, “Her ‘Secret’ lover ???,” while another wrote, “Wants to see her bestie,” and a third viewer observed, “Emma knows where she’s gonna get the best pets.” Meanwhile, a few commenters also wondered how far the friendship goes, with one asking, “do they meet face to face too?” In the end, the Rottweiler could not be clearer that she loves her neighbor, or at least their scratches.
