Walking into a silent, dark room and feeling immediate tension is usually a bad sign for a parent. Something went down. It is obvious. Over at @laughwithbret, the air in the living room is just very quiet. Maya is sitting on the couch, looking very sad. But when the lights come on, the reality of the situation becomes clear.
Dogs won’t sit next to each other after alleged fight
This video captures two German Shepherds dealing with the aftermath of an alleged fight. It is clear as day that they are not speaking to each other. Absolutely cannot stand the sight of the other, in fact. And then the video shows dad trying to act as the mediator in this awkward dog fight.
Dad walks in and finds Maya sitting in the dark by herself. She looks miserable. And then Liv wanders in a few seconds later. Dad asks if they got in a fight. Liv tries to jump on the couch to join the party, but Maya is not having it. She looks shifty. She avoids eye contact. But she eventually just gives up and moves to a completely different couch across the room. She won’t even sit on the same piece of furniture as her sister. It is a lot of tension for one living room.
Liv is trying to look innocent, but she isn’t doing a very good job. She puts a paw on Dad’s leg and gives him this look. It is a mix of guilt and defiance. Dad isn’t buying it. He tells her that her face, her paw, and Maya’s attitude are showing that she is guilty. “A lot of awkward hostility in the room,” the caption says.
One dog stays on the other couch, looking out into space. She is clearly the one whose feelings got hurt. The video shows dad trying to get them to be nice to each other. He gets them on the same couch eventually, but the distance between them is still huge. He tells Maya to stop giving the side-eye. But they both just sit there sulking.
One viewer said the body language is so clear that you don’t even need a translation. Another person joked that it’s a “female thing.” At the end, Bret tells the girls they’d better fix their attitude by bedtime because everyone is still sleeping in the same spot. No excuses.
